1. Who we are

The data controller for sacredascent.com and the Sacred Ascent beta list is:

Double opt-in: when you sign up, we send one confirmation email. Your details are packed into that confirmation link and are not stored on our list until you click it. If you never confirm, nothing is saved and you won't hear from us again.

3. Why we use it, and our legal basis

• Sending beta invitations, launch news and occasional development updates: based on your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw it at any time.
• Understanding what players want (the optional questions): based on your consent. We only look at the answers in aggregate to make design and platform decisions.
• Documenting your consent: our legitimate interest in being able to prove we're allowed to email you (Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Running a secure website (server logs, abuse protection): our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)).

We never sell your data, never share it with advertisers, and never use it for automated decisions or profiling.

4. Who processes it for us

We use two data processors, each under a data processing agreement:

Transfers to the USA rely on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified, and otherwise on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

We don't turn on open or click tracking in our emails.

5. How long we keep it

• Unconfirmed sign-ups: not stored. The confirmation link expires after 7 days.
• Confirmed sign-ups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data. We delete contacts who haven't engaged with any email for 24 months.
• After you unsubscribe: we keep only your email address on a suppression list, so we can make sure we never email you again.
• Server logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period (typically days) for security.

6. Cookies and tracking

This website sets no cookies and uses no ad pixels or third-party trackers. Fonts and images are served from our own domain, so your visit isn't shared with Google or anyone else. That's why you didn't see a cookie banner.

We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which works without cookies and without storing anything on your device. It sees the page you visited, the referring site, your country, browser and device type, and whether a sign-up was sent. Visitors are identified only by a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, so we cannot recognise you across days or sites. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in knowing whether the site works (Art. 6(1)(f)).

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

• see the data we hold about you (access),
• have it corrected or deleted,
• restrict or object to how we use it,
• receive it in a portable format,
• withdraw your consent at any time. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link, or just write to c@cvbe.dk.

If you think we handle your data incorrectly, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet), datatilsynet.dk. We'd appreciate the chance to fix it first.

8. Age

The beta list is for people aged 13 or older. If you're younger, please ask a parent or guardian before signing up.

9. Changes

If we change how we use your data in a meaningful way, we'll update this page and email confirmed subscribers before the change takes effect.
